Create a Revision Timetable
When students get behind in classes, they often contact me for a timeline to help them create and revise their work in a timely manner
as to not get farther behind. I had one student encounter significant problems during the semester and had to make up multiple weeks of work in a very short amount of time. I created a work schedule for him as you'll see below. I also made sure to include time for the various stages of the writing process, though. (See the boxes for time to outline, draft, revise, edit, etc.)

While I typically use a WORD calendar template and simply space out the workload so that a little bit of work is being completed daily by the student to get back on track--without rushing through the assignment and not learning the necessary elements--you can use a variety of concepts to structure your assignments throughout a semester to include time to understand the assignment, begin research, pre-write, create an initial draft, revise, and finally edit. It is imperative that time is spent in all of these stages of the writing process so that your work does not suffer.
